What inspired you to start participating in roller derby? I wanted to do something badass after watching Whip It and G.L.O.W. I’ve always loved to skate and spent many nights at a skating rink growing up. I spent a season as a Cog Blocker but after a broken ankle, I realized that although I loved to skate, I didn’t like playing. Being a Zebra has allowed me to skate while still being involved in the roller derby community.

Advice to First Years: For a ref: learning your whistle is the scariest /hardest part! Once you master that, you can do anything!

Favorite moment: SO Andy Slamberg (my other half) and I became Level 1 certified officials our first year. It was really awesome to accomplish that so early in our roller derby career!

This might not be my favorite moment but possibly my most badass moment: I broke a rib tripping over myself while jam reffing but I got back up and finished the bout!
